A new elite national karting league could provide the step to an exciting driving career in a sport that is raising its profile.
Stretton circuit is one of 28 circuits around the country that have been invited to be part of the NKA (National Karting Association) Elite League from the start of next season in a bid to boost its appeal as a spectator sport and, to make sure we have a large pool of kart drivers from which to select the team – to be known as Leicester Alleycats - we are appealing for all keen karters to get in touch.
Leicester Alleycats will be managed by Nick Lowe from Stretton Circuit over the five years in the League to which we have initially committed.
If you want a chance to compete at the top level of one of the most popular participatory driving sports in the world then this is the way to do it. Karting is stepping up to the big time and this is fantastic opportunity to be in at the outset of this prestigious new competition.
The Elite League gives members of Leicester Alleycats the chance to gain fantastic experience, competing at the highest level of karting in the UK at all of the premier circuits. It’s your first step on the road to stardom in the sport!
The NKA Elite League has been created by Teesside Karting in the North East as a way to get karting the recognition it deserves. Bob Pope, who has run Teesside Karting for the past 15 years, and his daughter Kat have committed £150,000 to the scheme.
Like karting, speedway started on an individual basis but it was the formation of leagues that took it to a different level.
We feel this is a fantastic prospect for the karting industry as a whole as well as the future stars of the sport, with many opportunities for local business to get involved – sponsorship, business partnership, spectator support and media involvement.”
The Elite League will unify the competitive elements for the top drivers in karting.
